Morgantown is uniquely suited to human power with short distances between the destinations that are used most commonly. Its challenges lie in its steep terrain, neglected infrastructure and unrestrained traffic and sprawl. Sustainable transportation encourages us to go places using more of our own power. Our bodies are like machines, that get STRONGER with more use. Choose your transportation to it fit the distance and weather while remembering to share the road courteously with other users.
These transportation modes all cost less than driving so you're saving money while you're saving the planet, your health and (often) time. It's now widely known that we need to reduce our vehicle miles by 80% to avoid catastrophic climate change, so let's get together and have fun doing it!

Mountain Line Goes Multi-Modal
Since August 25, 1998 the Mountain Line Transit Authority has provided bicycle racks on all of its fixed route buses. These new bike racks are user friendly and they will hold two bikes at a time. With these new bike racks, riders can now take their bikes to area parks or their favorite trail and not worry about heavily congested streets or unsafe road crossings. Nearly all routes will take you right to the trail at Hazel Ruby-McQuain. Some other routes will take you to trail locations in Sabraton and Star City. So check out the new bike racks, get a bus schedule from a driver or on the internet (www.busride.org) and plan your next bike outing with Mountain Line. We'll keep the air conditioners running.
