Safe Routes to School E-mail
In 1969, 50% of all students walked or bicycled to school. Today less than 15% walk or bike. Over 50% of student ride to school in private automobiles. Kids' health is declining in part- including problems such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.

There are many reasons to choose a Walk and Bike to school program: *Incresed Physical Activity
*Improved Pedestrian Skills
*Community Design
*Less reliance on automobile
*Decreased neighborhood and school traffic
*More social interaction
*Increased Independence
